Several construction companies have been tasked with the refurbishment works which has included the excavation of the contaminated materials.

Once again HWM Ltd have been able to help these companies and Shell Petrolium to dispose of the materials safely.

The materials have been cleaned and recycled using our unique cleaning processes.

The site is making way for a new Sainsbury's Superstore and 140 new homes, however various areas of the land had been contaminated due to the years of vehicle maintenance being carried out on the site.

HWM Ltd were tasked with clearing away the contaminated materials from the site so that the construction programme could progress.

HWM Ltd cleared approximately 800m3 of contaminated soils which have now been successfully treated at our treatment and recycling facility in Otterbourne.
These materials have now been completely recycled into construction materials.

HWM Ltd saved Sainsbury's many thousands of pounds in Landfill tax as well as reduced the material movement's carbon footprint. The materials were taken for disposal locally rather than having to travel miles across or up the country.

Due to Leadbitter and the Academy being unaware of the contaminated materials being present on site, the materials were required to be analysed and moved within 4 days so that construction programmes were not effected in any way.

The materials were tested on site, removed and taken to the HWM Ltd cleaning and recycling facility in Otterbourne, where these materials are undergoing one of our unique cleaning proccesses so that 100% of the materials can be recycled.

The materials removed equated to approximately 550m3.

HWM Ltd worked very closely with the Kent based company Steadline Ltd who were acting as the principle contractor on this project.
HWM Ltd located and removed contaminated materials from 3 large soil bunds placed on the site many years ago.

The bunds were required to be removed to make way for new buildings and road infrastructure.

Following a suitable and bespoke testing regime, all of the contaminated materials were located and removed in 3 days and taken to the HWM Ltd cleaning and recycling facility in Otterbourne where 100% of the materials have been succesfully cleaned and recycled into construction materials.

The offices are due for completion around November 2011.

Churchill Retirement excavated numerous old fuel tanks from the ground which over the years have leaked fuels into the ground, contaminating the ground that they are required to build on.

All materials had been excavated and stored on polythene sheeting for subsequent removal to a licensed waste facility.

Hazardous Waste Management Ltd was instructed by Churchill Retirement Homes to arrange for the safe removal of the stockpiled contaminated materials.

Approximately 1700 tonnes of contaminated materials were loaded onto vehicles and taken to our Otterbourne facility, safely and efficiently, within 4 days.

Following the excavation for the foundations of the new building, Hazardous Waste Management Ltd were tasked with sampling the excavation arrisings as the Leadbitter site manager was concerned that the materials had a pungent smell to them and wanted to check to see if the materials were in fact contaminated.

Upon sample testing, the materials were deemed to be contaminated.
HWM Ltd quoted for the safe removal of the contaminated materials from site to our licensed waste facility in Otterbourne.

We arranged the transport and removed the materials which was approximately 900 tonnes within 3 days.

The materials for excavation equates to approximately 25,000 m3 some inert some contaminated.

Hazardous Waste Management Ltd are about to start continuing the bulk excavation, hazardous material identification, site remediation & piling platform installation for the construction of the New Tesco store off Quay street in Fareham.

Our works are estimated to last approximately 8 weeks.

All contaminated materials will be transported to our newly opened hazardous / contaminated material recycling facility in Otterbourne, Hampshire.

The site required breaking out the old concrete slabs, excavation of the contaminated materials used as fill many years ago, crushing and screening on site, laying crushed materials installing new drainage infrastructure and re-forming the concrete slabs.

The worked area equates to approximately 35,000 m2

All of the contaminated materials were taken to the HWM Group material recycling facility for processing.
