01/11/2011 - PETROL STATION REFURBISHMENTS

Shell Petrolium have been refurbishing some of their petrol stations in the Hampshire / Dorset / Sussex areas, and have required many tonnes of contaminated materials to be disposed of carefully and safely, following the excavation of the old tanks buried in the forecourts, which have obviuosly leaked for many years.

Several construction companies have been tasked with the refurbishment works which has included the excavation of the contaminated materials.

Once again HWM Ltd have been able to help these companies and Shell Petrolium to dispose of the materials safely.

The materials have been cleaned and recycled using our unique cleaning processes.

01/11/2011 - CLEANING UP AFTER THE BUSES

Portswood Bus Depot has been a local public transport hub for around 130 years, but was too costly and large to keep running.

The site is making way for a new Sainsbury's Superstore and 140 new homes, however various areas of the land had been contaminated due to the years of vehicle maintenance being carried out on the site.

HWM Ltd were tasked with clearing away the contaminated materials from the site so that the construction programme could progress.

HWM Ltd cleared approximately 800m3 of contaminated soils which have now been successfully treated at our treatment and recycling facility in Otterbourne.
These materials have now been completely recycled into construction materials.

HWM Ltd saved Sainsbury's many thousands of pounds in Landfill tax as well as reduced the material movement's carbon footprint. The materials were taken for disposal locally rather than having to travel miles across or up the country.
 
31/10/2011 - CLEANING UP TWICKENHAM ACADEMY

Hwm Ltd were contracted by the large Hampshire based construction company Leadbitter to remove some contaminated materials from the Twickenham Academy which were found following the demolition of some structures on site.

Due to Leadbitter and the Academy being unaware of the contaminated materials being present on site, the materials were required to be analysed and moved within 4 days so that construction programmes were not effected in any way.

The materials were tested on site, removed and taken to the HWM Ltd cleaning and recycling facility in Otterbourne, where these materials are undergoing one of our unique cleaning proccesses so that 100% of the materials can be recycled.

The materials removed equated to approximately 550m3.

 
31/10/2011 - PHASE 1 DUTTON LANE WORKS COMPLETE

Hwm Ltd have completed the 1st phase of the works at the Long Rail Welding Depot run by Network Rail in Dutton Lane, Eastleigh.

HWM Ltd worked very closely with the Kent based company Steadline Ltd who were acting as the principle contractor on this project.
HWM Ltd located and removed contaminated materials from 3 large soil bunds placed on the site many years ago.

The bunds were required to be removed to make way for new buildings and road infrastructure.

Following a suitable and bespoke testing regime, all of the contaminated materials were located and removed in 3 days and taken to the HWM Ltd cleaning and recycling facility in Otterbourne where 100% of the materials have been succesfully cleaned and recycled into construction materials.

Approximately 1000m3 of contaminated material was removed, cleaned and recycled.
 
31/10/2011 - SUCCESSFUL MOVE TO THE NEW OFFICES

16/03/2011 - LAND PURCHASE FOR NEW HWM GROUP OFFICES

HWM Ltd has just completed a purchase of some land in Otterbourne where the company is about to start constructing a new bespoke office suite.

The offices are due for completion around November 2011.

More details of the office move will be advised in the near future.
 
16/03/2011 - CONTAMINATED MATERIAL REMOVAL FROM EX RENAULT GARAGE FRATTON, PORTSMOUTH

Churhill Retirement Homes are currently constructing some retirement apartments in Portsmouth on the former Renault garage near Fratton.

Churchill Retirement excavated numerous old fuel tanks from the ground which over the years have leaked fuels into the ground, contaminating the ground that they are required to build on.

All materials had been excavated and stored on polythene sheeting for subsequent removal to a licensed waste facility.

Hazardous Waste Management Ltd was instructed by Churchill Retirement Homes to arrange for the safe removal of the stockpiled contaminated materials.

Approximately 1700 tonnes of contaminated materials were loaded onto vehicles and taken to our Otterbourne facility, safely and efficiently, within 4 days.
 
16/03/2011 - CONTAMINATED MATERIALS FROM MERLIN QUAY DISPOSED AT HWM GROUP WASTE FACILITY

Leadbitter Group are currently constructing a new building at Merlin Quay on Hazel Road in Woolston.

Following the excavation for the foundations of the new building, Hazardous Waste Management Ltd were tasked with sampling the excavation arrisings as the Leadbitter site manager was concerned that the materials had a pungent smell to them and wanted to check to see if the materials were in fact contaminated.

Upon sample testing, the materials were deemed to be contaminated.
HWM Ltd quoted for the safe removal of the contaminated materials from site to our licensed waste facility in Otterbourne.

We arranged the transport and removed the materials which was approximately 900 tonnes within 3 days.
 
16/03/2011 - BULK EXCAVATION & LAND REMEDIATION TESCO'S FAREHAM

The site was originally a Foundry, which has numerous contaminated hotspots around the site.

The materials for excavation equates to approximately 25,000 m3 some inert some contaminated.

Hazardous Waste Management Ltd are about to start continuing the bulk excavation, hazardous material identification, site remediation & piling platform installation for the construction of the New Tesco store off Quay street in Fareham.

Our works are estimated to last approximately 8 weeks.

All contaminated materials will be transported to our newly opened hazardous / contaminated material recycling facility in Otterbourne, Hampshire.
 
16/03/2011 - CIVIL ENGINEERING WORKS AT S NORTON & CO LTD

Civil Engineering works and contaminated material removal at the S Norton & Co Ltd Scrap Merchants site in Southampton docks has now come to a conclusion after approximately 2 years of various phases of work.

The site required breaking out the old concrete slabs, excavation of the contaminated materials used as fill many years ago, crushing and screening on site, laying crushed materials installing new drainage infrastructure and re-forming the concrete slabs.

The worked area equates to approximately 35,000 m2

All of the contaminated materials were taken to the HWM Group material recycling facility for processing.
 
16/03/2011 - CHAS ACCREDITATION

During March 2011 Hazardous Waste management Ltd has been assessed by CHAS and has been awarded the CHAS Accreditation (The Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme)

CHAS Assessed Hazardous Waste Management Ltd on the same documentation that was sent to Safecontractor, therefore we are accredited against the same work groups listed under Safecontractor.
 
16/03/2011 - SAFE CONTRACTOR ACCREDITATION

During January & February 2011 Hazardous Waste Management Ltd has been awarded the Safe Contractor accreditation.

This involved sending various company procedures and documents to the award scheme for audit and approval.

03/09/2009 - ANOTHER SATISFIED CUSTOMER

In what is a very busy year for HWM, ABP (Associated British Ports), utilised our fast, efficient and unique ability to extract and export Hazardous Contaminated soil to enable them to achieve their deadline for the grand opening of their New Cruise Terminal Facility located within their Southampton port. We also provided them with clean, certified granular material for use within their substructures.
